Joining us is simple - just come along to one of our services - you'll be sure
of a very warm welcome. We know that it can be quite daunting to walk into a
church service if you haven't been there before, so here's a description of what
to expect at the various services that we hold:
Service of the word
(Marshchapel or North Thoresby on the 1st
Sunday of the month at 10 a.m.)
A straightforward modern service of readings and hymns with an address. Easy
language.
Refreshments afterwards at North Thoresby.
Café Church
(Marshchapel Methodists at 4 p.m. on the 4th
Sunday in the month)
Refreshments and worship all together. Occasionally a visiting choir.
Parish Communion
(North Thoresby 2nd and 4th Sundays and
Marshchapel on the 3rd Sunday all at 10 a.m.)
You could call this our "flagship service". Remembering the events of the
Last Supper and celebrating our togetherness in God's family. Hymns, readings
and an address and refreshments afterwards at North Thoresby.
Matins
(North Thoresby on the 3rd
Sunday at 10 a.m.)
The most traditional of the services at North Thoresby. Morning Prayer as it
has been used here since the reformation with a short talk, hymns and readings.
Refreshments afterwards.
Evensong
(Grainsby on the 3rd Sunday at
3 p.m. in the winter months and at 6 p.m. in the summer months)
Traditional Evensong. Hymns, readings and an address. We rarely have an
organist so we sing unaccompanied - fortunately the acoustics at Grainsby are
unusually good and we are enthusiastic singers so it generally goes well. The
congregation is very good for a tiny village - we almost always get into double
figures.
Special Occasions
At times like Christmas and Easter, Harvest and Remembrance, the service
pattern can be changed to accommodate special services. If you would like to be
anonymous in a larger number these are good services to come to. |
